Ensenada Mexico

I never get tired of going to Ensenada. It's close to L.A. but yet you are in another world.

You can step outside the ship and take a round trip taxi to town for $2. They will try to get you to sign up for a shore excursion which I have done before. But I just want to walk around town and go to lunch this time.

My favorite place to go is El Patio. They will try to tell you it is far and you need a taxi, but really you don't. When you get to the main street you turn right and walk about 5 minutes. It will be on the right where there are a few restaurants near each other. Usually we sit on the sidewalk and eat but it's very clean and pretty inside. Great Margaritas and food is very inexpensive for a huge plate.

I buy some really cute earrings for around $10 and of course buy some vanilla. It's good to make sure you get the organic and check the expiration date. My friend bought some little kids outfits in a store for full price, she didn't even negotiate. When the owner realized he made a killing off her, he was offering free tequila shots in the back for her. I had already back pedaled out of the store. Wasn't sure what kind of straight shots I'd be getting out of the back room. lol.

There are plenty of pharmacias or farmacias in Ensenada, so if you know what you want you can get it without a prescription. I did ask for paxlovid just in case I would need it, but they didn't sell that. It's fun buying things there and you can get some awesome deals. It's sensory overload because there is so much to see, and I find the people selling very funny!

San Diego California

We missed Santa Barbara due to high winds and this is a tender port. I wasn't too upset because Santa Barbara is a 2 hr. drive from home. I was just going to walk around town and shop, etc. So they made it an extra sea day and off to San Diego we go. I happen to have friends who retired in San Diego and thought this would be a good time to catch up with them as San Diego can be a 3 hr drive depending on traffic.

They have this amazing condo just blocks from the ocean and pier. So we go visit them at their condo for awhile, have  a drink and catch up. They live right by Little Italy so we head over for a great Italian lunch and over to an Ice cream shop for some amazing ice cream. You can walk to Little Italy right from where the ship docks.

Off to Old Town where we had to say no to the Margs and chips because we have reservations at Crown Grill that night, and I know if I start eating in the afternoon I won't have an appetite for dinner.
