Mazatlan Mexico

We arrive to Mazatlan in the morning with no particular plans, but to wander around the city, watch the high divers than go over to Stone Island, which is literally a stone throw from the ship.

  • Cathedral Basilica & Plaza Revolución

Moorish and Gothic architecture at the Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, then we head across the way to the popular Plaza Revolución with its charming gazebo and street vendors. I pick up skin care, incense and something cold to drink.

Mazatlan MexicoHigh-flyers divers perform acrobatic and dangerous plunges into rocky surf from a 59-foot high ledge. They accept tips as you are watching them for free, and they are risking their lives.

The 4 of us walking through town to get to the high divers and stopped by vendors selling jewelry. It's hard to say no.

We go back to the ship, change, grab our swim suits and towels and head over to Stone Island. Plenty of cart will take you there for about 5 dollars. Then you  take a little boat across the water to get there. You can either walk along the sand to find a place, or wait for a van to take you to one of the restaurants, which is what we did. You can lay out on the sand and order your food for the beach.
Stone Island is less crowded and not as developed as the mainland, a haven of sunshine and ocean, with glistening sand, crashing waves, and rustling palm trees and plentiful coconuts.

Puerto Vallarta Mexico

Puerta Vallarta Mexico

After a fun filled sea day and running around the ship, eating, going to shows, learning how to do the Mexican Hat dance, Zumba, laughing and more eating we are excited for our first stop in Puerta Vallarta.

Puerto vallarta Mexica Cruise
Ready to explore and take the town.

My one sister has been to Puerta Vallarta several times and wanted to go have lunch, walk along the beach, shop and just shop around. There are many excursions and a variety of things to do in Puerta Vallarta, but I just go with the flow of whatever they want to do. We didn't take the taxi right off the ship, we walked a little ways and then picked up a taxi. It's a little far to walk into town, and we want to save our energy. I found some really cute sandals in a store for only $20.00 that were hand made, and then off to the main part of town.

If you walk a few blocks in you will the "Church of our Lady Guadalupe". We weren't on a tour, but you can just walk in, it's easy to find towering over the building.

Mexico Sister Cruise

I was fortunate enough to take a sister cruise with my 3 sisters. One had never been a cruise (really), another had only taken a cruise many years ago and didn't have a great experience, and the other had taken a cruise and was excited to take another.

Long story short, they all had the best time and were ready to start booking cruises every year.

Mexico Riviera Cruise

We all met at the pier in San Pedro, coming from different cities, and were ready to start our adventure. It was fun seeing their faces and excitement seeing the ship for the first time, and then boarding and discovering everything. They were like little kids in a candy store.

Being their first cruise, of course we got the sail away drinks to toast and celebrate our new adventure.

Sail away drinks Mexico 4 girls in a balcony cabin was a little tight but we managed. For some reason we had only 1 bunk bed, so they had to bring in a rollaway. It was so lumpy we had to put it on the floor, and guess who got stuck with it? And I'm not even the youngest!!!
