Day 1 Boarding the ship and Sail Away!

 We arrive at the ship at 10:30am for an easy, breezy check-in. With our Green Lane passes and personalized medallions in hand, we're all set to board and find our room. We quickly locate our balcony on the 11th floor, drop off our carry-ons, and dive into exploring every nook of the ship while snagging a quick bite. There's a ton to discover—from cool new venues to creative ways of using our drink package—all while celebrating family and having a blast!

Sun, Sea, and Sisterhood: Our 7-Day Western Caribbean Getaway on the Sun Princess

 I'm off on a wild new adventure to the Western Caribbean aboard the brand-new Sun Princess for a 7-day girls cruise! My older sister, my daughter, and I are trading cooking, cleaning, and overthinking for fun—and our biggest decisions are which restaurant to hit up and when. We’re living it up with the Princess Plus package (hello, unlimited beverages!) and treating ourselves to a Thermal Suite Pass for a week of steaming, sauna sessions, and hydrotherapy. First stop: a red-eye from L.A. to Fort Lauderdale (with a half-dose of Excedrin P.M. to help me catch some shut-eye). Let the good times roll!

The 360 Extraordinary Experience

 The 360 Experience is only offered on the Discovery and the Enchanted Princess. This is how it is described on the website. Reservations are required and the cost is $149 per person.

Join us on a journey through the sights, sounds, textures and scents of the Mediterranean. This seven-course event pairs destination-evoking dishes, wine and champagne with surprises along the way for an adventure unlike any at sea or on land.

The 360 Experience is like stepping into a Mediterranean dream—but here's the catch (pun intended): it's only available on the Discovery Princess and Enchanted Princess. Reservations are a must, with seatings at 7:00 PM and 9:00 PM. When we tried, they were all booked up! But lucky us, they opened up a lunchtime seating because enough people were interested. Score!

It all kicks off in the Piazza with a welcome drink (fancy, right?). From there, you're guided through "The Catch" (literally, three strings lead the way) to a private, circular room that's straight out of a sci-fi foodie fantasy. Why? Because it’s wrapped in a 360° screen that whisks you away to France, Greece, and Italy for an unforgettable Mediterranean Culinary Experience.

It’s not just dinner—it’s a full sensory adventure! Your interactive table reacts as you dine, and fragrant mists waft through the air to transport you to your destination. You feel like you’re actually strolling along the Mediterranean coast. And let’s talk food—seven courses, people! Good thing it’s lunch; you'll need the whole day to recover (in the best way possible).

Pro tip: you can take photos and videos, so get ready to capture this epic feast for the 'Gram. Enjoy every bite and every moment—you’ll feel like you’ve traveled the world without leaving the ship.

Halifax Nova Scotia Peggy's Cove

 I did the Peggy’s Cove & Coastal Scenic Drive tour, which lasted about three hours. If you’re thinking of doing this, here’s a hot tip: go for a longer tour if you can! It takes an hour to get there and another hour back, leaving just 45 minutes to an hour to explore. Not ideal for the overachieving wanderer like me. Sadly, the longer tours were already sold out—lesson learned: book early, my friends!

Despite the time crunch, I made the most of it. I snapped plenty of photos and wandered around the picture-perfect cove, but I didn’t have time to check out the shops or grab lunch (next time, lobster rolls!).

Since my excursion was in the afternoon, we lucked out with clear skies instead of the morning fog. The weather gave us those dreamy, postcard-worthy views. Oh, and our ride? A double-decker bus! We scored the front row seats on the upper deck—prime real estate for soaking up all the scenic views along the way. It was short but sweet, and Peggy’s Cove did not disappoint.
