Schwerin town and lunch.

After the castle visit we wandered around the town and stopped off for lunch at a cute little restaurant. When in Germany you have to have the beer.

Schwerin Castle

Sometimes I take photos with just my camera phone and sometimes I bring the big one.
The big one is my Nikon which is a little cumbersome so doesn't always get to come out. Here are some photos with "the big one".

The scaffolding kind of ruins the pictures.

Schwerin Castle, Germany

We decided on an all day excursion from Princess to Schwerin Castle which looks like a fairy tale castle.
We were supposed to dock in Warnemunde but was changed to Rostock. From Rostock to Schwerin is about 90 minutes and luck would have it another nice day. Part sunny and part cloudy with wind I took a rain jacket and beanie hat.
Once we got there we took a 20 minute boat ride around the lake to get some different views of the castle and these were my best photos of the castle. Once we got off we took a little train looking car around the small town to see the neighborhoods and streets which also took around 20 minutes. Then back to the castle for a walk around the gardens and in for a guided tour of the castle.

The photo of the footbridge has folkloric tale that you are supposed to walk across it holding your true loves hand for a life of happiness. Of course we had to do it even though the group kept going and we were a little left behind. Hey, when you travel halfway across the world for once in a lifetime experiences you will do it. Even if it means getting left behind.

Oslo and surroundings.

Askershus Fortress, a lighthouse in the ocean, beautiful sunset and a submarine. Who could ask for more?

Oslo Norway Vigeland park.

We ride bikes through Oslo's quaint, high end neighborhoods down quiet one lane roads and end up at Vigeland Sculpture Park. This is the highlight of Oslo as it is the largest sculpture park in the world created by one artist....Gustav Vigeland. It represents our circle of life from infancy to adulthood all withrout clothes. Some might call it "penis park" but it is truly remarkable.  "Mad boy" is the most photographed and people think it is lucky to rub his hand which is now worn down to a brassy kind of color. You walk to the fountain with the water overflowing over a  circle of statues and up the final stairs is the tallest sprial of figures with scuptlures leading up to it in about 12  different rows. It was a pretty warm day so felt good riding down the streets and riding the bike through the park passing all the people walking in. It is definitely worth a visit.
