Hermitage Museum
And then there's the Hermitage Museum. What can I say..... it is amazing. We went on a day it was closed so there was limited groups in there. Everywhere you turned it was awe inspiring.
The State Hermitage is a museum of art and culture in Saint Petersburg, Russia. The second-largest art museum in the world, it was founded in 1764 when Empress Catherine the Great acquired an impressive collection of paintings from the Berlin merchant Johann Ernst Gotzkowsky. It has been open to the public since 1852.

St. Petersburg Day 1
We took a 2 day tour with TJ's tours in St. Petersburg and covered a lot of ground. I didn't know what to expect before I got there, but this ended up being our favorite of the Baltic cities. Up early in the morning we went to the St. Petersburg Palace Square before anyone was there. And then off to the subway. Down the steepest escalator I have ever been on. It was unbelievably clean, no graffiti and no rats.
The St Petersburg’s Palace Square is one of the major landmarks of Russia. The Palace Square is also considered as one of Eur-Asia’s beautiful and unique squares. The Palace Square is built on the southern side of the city between in 1754-1762, a new building was added to the square in 1819-1829 by Carlo Rossi.
